    Joy W.

    Director of Human Resources

  • “I am amazed at just how "seen" I feel after taking The Values Bridge! The results basically explained me TO me. I feel like I have a deeper understanding of how I've been living authentically or inauthentically and by learning a specific, clear language around my values, I can better identify what's important to me in all future endeavors.”

    Alexandra L.

    Real Estate Agent

  • “I’ve taken every self-assessment out there. None hit me like The Values Bridge. It connected dots I didn’t know needed connecting — like why I keep changing careers, or why some relationships drain me. This isn’t a personality test. It’s a permission slip to live honestly.”

    Nigel R.

    Product Manager turned Startup Founder

  • “No wonder I’ve been burning out. No wonder I’ve been restless. I was fighting my own values. The Values Bridge helped me finally name that tension. Since taking it, I’ve made three major life decisions — all of them life-giving.”

    Eliza Z.

    Creative Director

  • “The clarity it gives is unreal. You get an instant snapshot of where someone’s thriving and where they’re internally torn. It’s like doing 6 months of coaching in 60 minutes. My clients walk away grounded, energized, and — most importantly — aligned.”

    John P.

    Senior Data Scientist

  • “I didn’t expect to feel seen by a values assessment. But The Values Bridge knew me better than I knew myself. The way it laid out my inner conflicts — and harmonies — gave me language I’ve been searching for for years.”

    Nicole F.

    Mother, CFO

  • “This tool flipped a switch in me. I’d been chasing ‘success’ that didn’t actually match what mattered to me. The Values Bridge reconnected me with who I am, not just who I thought I should be.”

    Jacob R.

    Strategy and M&A professional

  • “Really amazing insight, really helped me identify what I want/should/could work on moving forward.”

    Michelle T.

  • “I have been waiting for this tool since Suzy first mentioned it in her podcast. I was skeptical at first but WOW! The values bridge is truly the first real step I have been able to take towards my true life. Thank you to the whole team!!”

    Michelle C.

  • “The Values Bridge and the book Becoming You have sparked a lot of reflection around who I am. I am, maybe for the first time, coming up with my own true set of values in hopes of finding a career to get me to my AOT. I recognized that this work is going to be extremely valuable in decision-making if nothing else.”

    Amy S.

  • “I’m glad that I took the time to take the quiz. It’s helped me identify why my life has felt so misaligned.”

    Lindsey J.

  • “I am amazed with how meaningful it has been to me to find out not only what are my core values, but the things that play less of a role on how I structure my life. It’s empowering to admit to yourself you are the way you are. I’m definitely one step forward to becoming my authentic self.”

    Tamara C.

  • “Discovering what my values truly are with the Values Bridge was eye opening and reaffirming. Being able to put words to them and realize how they relate to my current life and my choices made perfect sense. Knowing that the choices I've made are aligned with those values gave me peace of mind. Being able to make decisions going further and using the values as a guide makes the process even easier.”

    Rima P.

  • “I've been loving the insight gained from this. Like most of Dr Welch's students i didn't have a language for values. I really appreciate that this tool exists now. Its been amazing sharing it with friends. Everyone who knows me says "Yeah that tracks" when i tell them my results!”

    Jonathan B.

  • “I really love the tool and plan to share it with others. I find the language around it very helpful. Thanks for all of your work on it!”

    Drey M.

    5th-grade teacher

  • “The Values Bridge allowed me to grasp a defined description of an unnamed, long-felt frustration which allowed discussion with my partner about future endeavors.”

FAQ

Find quick answers to common questions and learn how to make the most of your experience.

  • The Values Bridge is a scientifically-validated assessment created to give users a deeper and more specific understanding of their values. It tests users on their levels of the 15 personal values identified in the Welch-Bristol Values Inventory, identifying how much of each value a person authentically holds, and how much they actually express in their daily lives. The Values Bridge also assesses each user’s values profile for internal conflicts and harmonies and provides an Authenticity Score, which calculates the gap (or not) between a person’s current expression of values and their hoped-for expression. Finally, the Values Bridge allows users to compare their values with each other, to identify sources of alignment or tension.

  • Values are the beliefs, motivations, desire, and guiding principles that shape how you think, feel, and act. They reflect what matters most to you—whether it’s freedom, stability, creativity, connection, or success. Values influence the choices you make, the goals you pursue, and how you define a meaningful life.

Values are not just preferences or opinions, nor are they virtues or personality traits. They are deeper than that. They help you answer questions like:

    • What kind of person do I want to be?
    • What kind of life feels worth living?
    • What do I want my decisions to reflect about me?

When you live in alignment with your values, life tends to feel more authentic, fulfilling, and grounded. When your life and your values are out of sync, you might feel stuck, unmotivated, or like something is off—even if everything “looks good” on the outside.

Research conducted at NYU shows that fewer than 10% of people feel as if they are living in full accordance with their values. This is not surprising, in that many dynamics in life can separate us from this pursuit, such as societal and family expectations and financial pressures.

The Values Bridge is designed to help people have a deeper understanding of their values and uncover which, if any, of their values are not being fully expressed.

  • Yes. The Values Bridge is grounded in nearly a century of research in psychology, social science, identity, and moral philosophy. It was developed in an academic setting, with peer reviews of its conceptual framework during doctoral research, and has undergone rigorous testing with thousands of users.

  • Absolutely, and you will not be alone. Some therapists also take the Values Bridge themselves to better understand the tool in conversations with clients who have taken it on their own. To facilitate the use of the Values Bridge in professional settings,  we offer a Values Bridge certification for therapists on an ongoing basis.

  • Absolutely, and you will not be alone. Some life coaches also take the Values Bridge themselves to better understand the tool in conversations with clients who have taken it on their own. To facilitate the use of the Values Bridge in professional settings, we offer a Values Bridge certification for coaches on an ongoing basis.

  • While it’s uncommon, some users feel that their Values Bridge results don’t fully resonate. You might think a particular value should rank higher or lower, or that a conflict score between two values seems overstated. When that happens, we suggest two options.

First, feel free to revise or reinterpret the results based on your own insight—this is your tool, after all.

Second, consider using the disagreement as a starting point for deeper reflection. Is there something about the result that feels uncomfortable or surprising? Could it be revealing a tension you haven’t fully explored yet? The Values Bridge was designed not just to provide answers, but to provoke meaningful thought. Sometimes, the greatest insights come from what we resist the most.

  • The Values Bridge is for anyone seeking deeper self-understanding and greater alignment between who they are and how they live. It’s designed to help individuals uncover the sources of dissatisfaction, make more consistent and authentic decisions, and plan their careers or lives with greater clarity. It’s also a powerful tool for couples, families, friends, or teams who want to strengthen their relationships and understand the values dynamics that shape their interactions. In short, the Values Bridge is for anyone who wants to live with more insight, intention, and authenticity—individually or together.

  • The 15 values used in the Values Bridge are identified in the Welch-Bristol Values Inventory, developed by Suzy Welch, Professor of Management Practice at NYU Stern School of Business as part of her doctoral dissertation at the University of Bristol. The inventory builds on, and reflects, nearly a century of academic and empirical research into psychology, social science, identity, and human behavior.

  • Yes. Values can evolve or change with experience or due to events, but core values are often stable for long periods in life. Our subscription model encourages users to revisit the tool periodically—to keep in touch with what truly matters.

  • Your data is private, secure, and never sold. We only use anonymized, aggregate data to improve the product. You’re in full control of your responses and who sees them.

  • Yes, and we encourage it with our bi-annual subscription model—especially if you’re reflecting on growth, facing a major decision, or just want to see how your values have shifted over time.

  • Absolutely. The Values Bridge is designed so that you can invite a partner, friend, or colleague to take the tool and see where your values align—or diverge. Users have found that this experience can be transformational for relationships, deepening understanding and empathy.

  • Yes. The Values Bridge offers insights and tools found nowhere else. Grounded in the original Welch-Bristol Values Inventory, it uniquely reflects both enduring human values and those shaped by our modern era—like flexibility, self-care, and belonging. Unlike other assessments, it measures not just what you value, but how fully you’re living those values now, compared to the life you truly want. That gap is quantified in your Authenticity Score, giving you a clear picture of how aligned—or misaligned—you are.

Beyond self-insight, the Values Bridge also shows how your values work together—or against each other—through its Conflict and Harmony analysis. And no other tool lets you directly compare your values profile to that of a friend, partner, or colleague, unlocking deeper understanding in any relationship. Whether you’re new to personal development or well along the path, the Values Bridge will take your insight to the next level.
